SKYWARN Storm Spotter Training – April 19th, 2025

** SPOTTER TRAINING UPDATE **
Lancaster County SKYWARN Spotter Training has been changed to April 19th at LARC clubhouse, 4420 NW 41st. The assessment and credentialing test has been re-added to the agenda. Please change your calendars to participate in the training. Especially all of the new hams that have not yet been credentialled for Spotter duties.
The new timeline of activities are as follows:
8:00 AM to 11:00 AM: ARES Registration and Photos
11:00 AM to 12:30 PM: Brian Smith NWS Presentation
12:30 PM to 1:00 PM: Assessment Test
1:00 PM to 1:15 PM: Short Break
1:15 PM to 1:30 PM: K9UAV NE ARES Website Presentation
1:30 PM to 2:30 PM: LARC Spotter Training
I know and understand this is Easter Weekend. I appreciate all of your understanding regarding this change. Please make sure to get your certificates for Role Of SKYWARN Spotter and Spotter Convective Basics to Ed, KØRPT. If you’re new and have not yet taken these courses, please visit http://www.neares.org/get-involved and register for each course. Use Ed Holloway as your instructor and download your certificates and bring them with you or, email them to Ed at k0rpt@arrl.net

We continue to issue Lancaster County Emergency Management ID Cards and will

take photos on training day. Please bring your driver’s license as you complete your
registration. Your data will be stored securely.

The 2025 storm spotter packets are being updated and will be emailed to all
credentialed spotters in Lancaster County who have completed the ARES registration
and ID card processes.

When storms hit, we are some of the first volunteers to respond. Get involved today.
